We are slowly getting into the routine of things this week! We started reading, math, and even social studies (Hawaiian studies)! Homework started up too such as the reading logs, reading, and math homework.
Our students took the fall iReady diagnostic this week and showed Miss Carey and I where they are as far as in reading and math. This helps us greatly as we can now see their strengths and where their needs are. During this week of iReady testing, we were able to practice testwiseness, a time that we teach our students what the testing environment looks and sounds like, expectations during testing, do practice tests, and test taking strategies. These are all great things to expose to our keikis so that they know what to expect when SBA and HSA rolls around.
Don't forget that Friday is Statehood day and there is no school. Usually, on field trip days, holidays, or days with no school, there will be no homework. Other than that, Homework is sent home everyday Monday through Friday. Mahalo for signing your child's planners! This shows great support and teamwork from school to home as well as acknowledgement that your child is doing their homework. So far they are doing good with getting it done. Let's keep up this momentum!
